The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

Stephan Elliot wrote and directed this tale about the adventures of three Drag Queens and how they make their way through Australian desert. More than a road movie or a musical comedy, Priscilla is about challenging your own fears and ghosts. Funny and extravagant, Priscilla could be seen as a silly movie, but it is not! The excellent work of Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce and Terence Stamp gave the characters the power to go beyond stereotypes. Lizzy Gardiner's outrageous costumes won the 1994 Oscar for best costumes design. Another wonderful thing about "Adventures of Priscilla" is the outstanding soundtrack, nearly as memorable as the movie: a great collection of torch songs, disco classics and romantic ballads. Feel free to sing along, but don’t forget…
“I said it before, no more fucking ABBA!"

"I came from Newcastle in the north of England, we used to have alots of parties where everyone got dressed up. And on one party invitation was the quote 'She was never bored because she was never boring.' The song is about growing up - the ideals that you have when you're young and how they turn out."
